How to play.
Everything on the Game Guide card, plus a few hosting notes for your first table.
Father God, Thank you for this table and the people around it. We ask that you open our ears and our hearts to hear each other, but to really hear YOU. Let this be more than a game. Let it be an opportunity for everyone to feel seen, safe, loved, and closer to YOU when it's over. Amen.
Four rules. That's the whole manual.
-
Pull up a chair and get ready to Break Bread
-
Draw a card and serve it to the table
-
Passing on a question is okay
A table where passing is safe is a table where people tell the truth.
-
Come back for seconds
There's no limit.
No reservations needed! Just come spiritually hungry.
Setting a good table.
Suggestions, not rules. Every table is different.
Open with the prayer card
Read it out loud before the first card. It sets the tone without making anyone feel put on the spot.
Host goes first
Answer the first card yourself. However honest you are, the table will match it.
Pace the roasts
Start The Table with Light Roast. Move to Bold Roast once everyone has answered a few and the table feels ready.
Protect the pass
When someone passes, move on without comment. That's what keeps the next answer honest.
Watch the clock, not the deck
A full meal runs 45–75 minutes. You won't get through 165 cards in one sitting, and you're not supposed to.
Always save room for dessert
Leave time for Pass the Blessing. Ending in prayer is what people remember.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.
